Pocky Rush

‘Pocky…’ Jirou mumbled in her sleep. She was dreaming about her beloved snack, Pocky. In her dream, Pocky boxes of different flavors were floating freely on the air. Jirou couldn’t help but to be overwhelmed with delight at the sight. She ran full speed towards it and tears open each boxes. She didn’t wait a single second to start eating every stick. She moved from one box onto another. And so her action repeats until none were to be seen.

‘Pocky sure is delicious!’ she said as she pat her stomach that looked bigger than usual. She started to imagine if more were to appear, she wouldn’t be able to digest anymore. However, her thought were proved to be wrong as drools started to drips out of the corner of her lips when a giant chocolate flavored Pocky float towards her all of the sudden. ‘Wow, wow, wow!!!’ she jumped around in happiness. As it neared her, it exploded into an unstoppable flood of alarm that started to ring with great noise. ‘Agh!’ She shouted as the noise were starting to hurt her ears. ‘W-why?!’ And she closed her ears because she couldn’t to bear it anymore.

A few seconds later, Jirou opened her eyes only to be greeted with the same level noise of her alarm clocks. She stretched her right hand to shut off the alarm. She looked at her alarm as it says, ‘5:10 am.’

She lazily stood up and walked out of the room, heading towards the bathroom. “Ah, good morning, Jirou!” Her sister greeted her. “I didn’t know that Pocky could explode,” Jirou mumbled, not hearing her sister’s greeting and entered the bathroom. “…?” was what her sister could muster to express at Jirou’s behavior.

After finishing with her bath and changing into her uniform, she walked down the stairs and sat to eat her breakfast, but she dropped her head on to the table and slept.

“Jirou, wake up!” Jirou’s mother scolded her. “You can’t be late for your first day of high school!”

“Y-yes, mom…” she said as she began to eat her breakfast.

After finishing her breakfast, she gained enough energy to skip around. “It was delicious, mom!” She cheerfully commented as walked out of the kitchen. “I’ll be going,” and with that she left the house.

“Take care,” her mother replied. “I’m glad that I set up the alarm to 5 in the morning. Now she won’t be late for school,” she chuckled knowing her daughter sleeping habits.

Even if she did gain some energy from her breakfast, it didn’t last long. On the way to the train station, she began to walk slowly and on the train, she fell asleep. It was almost a miracle that she woke up just before her stop.

“We’ll be arriving to the next stop shortly. Please do gather all your belongings,” the announcer said through the speaker. Jirou stood up and walked closer to the door as the train slows down.

Walking out of the train station gate, she took a turn towards the Hyotei Gakuen. She walked lazily with eyes half opened towards the school only to find herself on the ground as a result from the bump. “I’m sorry…” she apologized to the figure that she bumped to.

Upon opening her eyes, she could only be mesmerized at what she’s seeing; his golden eyes. A tall young man was standing in front of her. He had the perfect body figure for a tennis player. He had a dark green hair that complements his facial features. He offered his hand to help her up. Seeing his gesture, she smiled and accepted his help. “Thank you,” she said as stands up.

“Ah, it’s okay. It was partly my fault too," he replied and shot her his charming smile. Ba-dump. She nodded, her heart beat racing.

“Ah!” she raised her voice when she realized that she was supposed to be heading to school. “I have to go, uh, Mr-?”

“Ryoga. Echizen Ryoga,” Ryoga replied.

“Echizen-san it is, then,” she smiled. “Later!” and with that she dashed towards the school not realizing that her energy was completely regained.
