[April '16] Mai's JMu-Monthly

I did, I really did the 160428 and 160502 ranking! The former late and the latter on time. I just didn't write up the post. That's why I was able to have the screenshot of 'em on the past chart folder. Really. Tehehe

     Hiya! So here's the top 35 of Mai's JMu-Monthly, February 2016 edition!

In first place we have Shabon by Matsu Rena & Charan-Po-Rantan. The song is so quirky and me ish definitely loving it. It's so fun!!! It has that distinct (insert the year here) sound. Like, Marylin Monroe age. That what the sound of the song reminds me of.

Then we have SKE48's Chicken LINE. I can definitely say that it's not my most favourite song by SKE48, but compared to most other act that appeared on the chart videos, I enjoy Chicken LINE more. I'm biased and this chart is biased, so no problem there. :D

At third place we have aiko's Motto. Really, I haven't been able to get my hands on the full version of Motto. Maybe there is some sort of control over the free media distribution of the song. BUT! I saw aiko's performance of Motto on Music Station the other day. I didn't listen to it intently, but I still absolutely love the chorus. I'm thinking of re-watching it again once the exams are over. AND! I still would like to listen to the full version.

Kobukuro's Mirai and AKB48's Kimi wa Melody are lovely. The same goes for AKB48's 365 Nichi no kamihikouki, Teshima Aoi's Ashita e no Tegami, ONE OK ROCK's Always coming back, Nishino Kana's Torisetsu and Ketsumeishi's Saraba Namida. Lovely, lovely songs. Keyakizaka46's Silent Majority and NMB48's Must be now are also lovely, but more on the cool side. And then there is ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION's Re:Re. I got the full song, but turns out that the song had an extended instrumental intro. I'm not much into extended instrumental intro and then only to get some sort of screaming vocal afterwards without simple vocals, do you get me? or did I lose it? But the portion that I heard on the youtube video is definitely to my liking. I don't know if I'll repeat the complete song oftenly, though.

So I forgot what was La Pompon's Unmei no Roulette Mawashite sounded like and the title looked awesome-static. I typed the artist name on vk and found the audio of the song and thought that the sound definitely reminded me of a Detective Conan song!!! Unmei no Roulette Mawashite....!!! <3 I typed on google the title without the artist name and guess what I got? Links to Detective Conan 4th opening song. OMG I was right. I definitely love it. So, La Pompon covered the song, no wonder I loved the song!! I'm not saying that I absolutely hate their other songs. I think there was other song of theirs that I also like some time back when I was doing the ranking of some date. Now I played the original version, and wow, I like La Pompon's version better? It sounds more upbeat and less ballad-ish. But... was I playing the album version of the ZARD's Unmei no Roulette Mawashite? because I read that the album version is less upbeat. Sadly, the song didn't appear on more weekly charts (Oricon or Billboard).

The rising act that I'm growing fond of is Ketsumeishi's Tomo yo~ Kono Saki mo Zutto... . The song is both fun and melancholy. It gives me the feels. Apparently it serves as a some sort of song for the new Crayon Shin-Chan movie? I tried to check it out, no not the Crayon Shin-Chan movie, but the song in itself. I saw the MV. I love it. The MV revolved around the dorky friendship of a three friends. Some old photos and dorky scenes the three did for the shoot. Fun, fun, FUN. Though some were a bit... off? slightly disgusting? for my taste. But overall, it's just fun and shows their dorky friendship. FUN!

Edit: Hahaha I already wrote 95% of the post and forgot about Babymetal's KARATE. Lol! I'm loving KARATE!! It sounds so good. I'm referring to the part that contains actual singing vocal instead of some punk/metal screams. I love the singing vocal part and overall, the song is great and fun

Then what do we have next? anderlust's Kaerimichi, Naoto Inti Raymi's together, Urashima Taro's Umi no Koe and Crystal Kay's Sakura are also lovely. I like the first two and the second one the most. Really, it sounds great! Has it appear on the next charts or what? Because I think now that I'm listening to it, it should have left a mark, a good one, but I searched it on vk because I couldn't remember the sound of it.

Speaking of songs that I don't remember, there are Sakura Cinderella's Mirai Prologue and Thrive's Maybe Love. I found the latter, but not the former, and because I found the latter, why did I like it? Well, I definitely liked the cut, but not the full song. It's one of those boy band (in this case, a virtual boy band one, an animated one) song that I cringe upon listening to it. I'm not sure I like RADWIMP's Zen Zen Zense either. Lol the cut showed an animation and I'm sure that's what stirred me and drove me to slightly be interested in wanting to like it. Hahaha wait, I think I have said that before, didn't I? OH! Similarly with Walkure's Ikenai Borderline, but Ikenai Borderline has appeared on some of the next charts and it's definitely rising (a little).

Speaking of songs that are rising, Iguchi Yuka's Kaga Misaki is also rising. More than Ikenai Borderline actually. I like the traditional sound of it. Fabulous!

I think that's about it. I'm not sure what to say about Utada Hikaru's new songs, simply because I have mixed feelings about it. Sometime I feel like the sound of the cut, but some other times, it sounds too fancy for me, so a little boring? Yeah, something like that. And AKB48's Kuchibiru ni Be My Baby barely made it to top 35. I'm biased, because people like Nogizaka46's Harujion ga Sakukoro way more than Kuchibiru ni Be My Baby. I'm more familiar with the sound of the former and familiar&similar sound of Nogi songs sometimes bore me? Something like that. I'm biased and this chart is biased.

And OH! Doll Elements' Dear Future has a nice sound. Kinda uplifting. And so is Inori Minase's Harmony Ribbon. The former has nice mix of traditional-but-not-so-and-a-little-folklore-ish and pop sound. The latter is more pop-ish. Rio Hiiragi's Banzai ! Banzai ! is more fun-ish, party fun. Banzai ! Banzai ! yeah, the title said it all. :D

    That's about it, yes!

I want to have most of the newcomer-to-top-35 on my playlist, that's for sure. I will see to it after the finals. But, for now, later!!!

Oh and I don't think I will post last week's, just because I wasn't quite feeling it. Most of the songs just decreased in points. Nothing much is new.
